Step Snow Melting Mat – 220 V, 30×90 cm

Model: SA-STEP-SNOW-MELTING-MAT-220V-30X90 CE & RoHS Factory since 2008 OEM / ODM Welcome

The 220 V version of our 30 × 90 cm step snow melting mat: same tread-per-mat coverage, adapted for 220–240 V mains.

Overview

The Step Snow Melting Mat – 220 V, 30×90 cm is a purpose-built outdoor electric mat that melts snow and ice on stair treads, steps and walkways while you simply go about your day. Laid over an exterior stair or entrance, it reaches surface temperature within minutes and, powered continuously, keeps the walking line clear — typically melting around 5 cm of fresh snow in the first hour. The walking surface carries a textured, non-slip profile, so the mat improves grip even on damp treads, not just when they freeze. It is part of our step snow melting mat range of heated stair and walkway de-icing products.

Each mat is a finished, weather-sealed unit: you can deploy one on a single hazardous tread, or chain several mats edge-to-edge to cover a whole flight, a landing or a connecting walkway. For sloped driveways, ramps and larger paved areas beyond the stairs, our snow melting mats family covers the ground-level approach.

Key Features

  • Non-slip walking surface — textured finish maintains grip on wet, snowy and frozen treads, reducing slip accidents even when the heating is off.
  • Fast snow melt — reaches working surface temperature in minutes; roughly 5 cm of fresh snow clears within one hour of switch-on.
  • Weather-sealed construction — flexible outer jacket rated for freeze-thaw cycles, rain, road spray and seasonal outdoor exposure.
  • Chainable mats — connect multiple mats to cover stair flights, landings and walkway runs from a single weatherproof outlet or circuit.
  • Low-profile & removable — thin enough not to trip over; lightweight, stacks flat for clean spring-and-summer storage.
  • Standard 30 × 90 cm tread size — the 220 V counterpart of our 120 V reference mat, identical geometry, market-adapted voltage.

Application Scenarios

  • 220 V-market residential front steps — a one-tread-per-mat system on 220 V mains, wired to an outdoor weatherproof outlet..
  • Chinese & East Asian entrances — factory-direct supply for 220 V markets in East Asia with local certification documents..
  • Bulk stair refurbishment programs — standardised 30 × 90 cm sizes simplify procurement for property-management portfolios..
  • Mix-and-match runs — combine with 50 × 90 cm landing mats from the same series for complete stair coverage..

For whole-building winter programs, the same mat family can be combined with driveway snow melting mats on the apron and a smart thermostat with snow/ice sensor so the system only switches on when precipitation arrives.

How It Works

Inside each mat, a dual-conductor resistance heating element is embedded on a tough mesh backing that keeps the element evenly spaced and the mat flat on the tread. When power is applied, the element heats the polymer jacket from below, raising the surface above freezing; snow and ice melt on contact, and the resulting water drains away instead of refreezing. A continuous low-power hold keeps the tread dry through sub-zero nights, so no ice bond forms between cleaning sessions. Because the mats are low-wattage (around 108 W each), running costs across a typical home stair flight are modest — and pairing the circuit with a snow/ice sensor means you only pay for heat when it is actually snowing.

Installation Guide

Surface-laid mats need no building work: clean the tread, lay the mat flat with the textured side up, route the lead cable along the stair riser toward a weatherproof outlet or junction box, and secure the mat at its edges with the supplied fixing method so it cannot shift underfoot. Chain mats with the provided connectors to extend coverage up the flight and onto landings, staying within the branch-circuit load limit. For permanent installations, mats can be embedded under stone, tile or concrete finishes during stair refurbishment — the mesh backing stays flat during the pour, which cuts installation labour. Always have the outdoor wet circuit finished by a qualified electrician with the earth-leakage protection required by local wiring rules, and confirm the circuit load before commissioning.

Safety & Certifications

The mat is built for wet outdoor duty: weather-sealed construction with IPX-rated waterproofing, non-slip walking surface, and FEP insulation rated to 200 °C. Every unit is tested for resistance and insulation before dispatch, and production runs carry CE and RoHS certification under an ISO 9001 quality system. Good operating practice keeps users safe: connect only within the rated circuit load, never overlap mats on top of each other, route leads away from walking edges where possible, and use a residual-current-protected outlet. A snow/ice sensor or thermostat prevents wasteful continuous running, which also extends mat life.

Factory & Quality

SunAura Thermal is a Qingdao-based electric heating manufacturer in business since 2008, supplying heating mats, cables and controls to contractors, distributors and brands in more than 50 countries. This step snow melting mat is built on the same production line as our underfloor heating mats, with the same element-winding, jacket-extrusion and hi-pot test benches. Because we are the factory rather than a trader, every batch carries traceable test records, certification documents, and direct engineering support for sizing your stair program. The full product family is listed on the products hub, and our references and manufacturing capability are summarised on the home page.

Packaging & Shipping

Mats are folded or rolled into export cartons with the lead cable protected, fixing accessories and instruction leaflet included. Carton counts are optimised for sea-freight pallets, with express courier options for urgent seasonal orders. CE, RoHS and ISO 9001 documents are issued with the shipment, and customs invoices are prepared for the destination market’s plug and voltage configuration. Seasonal programmes are best ordered ahead of autumn so stock arrives before the first freeze; contact our sales team for current lead times on both standard and custom builds.

OEM / ODM & Private Label

As the element manufacturer we customise in-house: mat sizes and wattages, 120 V or 220–240 V builds, plug types, lead lengths, jacket colours (including the black corridor finish and heavy-duty PVC jacket variant), and private-label packaging for brands and distributors. ODM projects are handled from concept and prototype through to production, with engineering support for custom stair dimensions. Complete kit programmes — mats, controllers, snow/ice sensors and branded instructions in one box — are a regular export format for European and North American trade partners.

Wholesale Pricing & How to Buy

Pricing is factory-direct and depends on quantity, voltage, size and whether the order is standard or custom. Sample mats are available for on-site evaluation before a bulk order, and volume tiers apply for contractors, property managers and distributors. Tell us your stair dimensions, climate zone, preferred voltage and whether you need surface-laid or embedded builds; our engineers size the mat count and circuit, then return a same-day quotation. To start an enquiry, contact our sales team with your project details for factory price, wholesale terms and sample arrangements.

FAQ

Are step heating mats slip resistant when they are wet?

Yes. The walking surface is a textured, non-slip profile that maintains grip on damp treads, and the de-icing heat removes the ice layer that causes most winter falls. The mat improves safety in both wet and frozen conditions.

How many snow melting mats do I need for a stair flight?

Plan on one 30 × 90 cm mat per tread, plus a wider 50 × 90 cm mat for the top and bottom landings. Mats can be chained, but keep the total load within the branch circuit limit — up to 1500 W per 120 V circuit is the reference design. Send us your tread count and voltage and we will size the exact quantity.

Should I choose 120 V or 220–240 V stair snow melting mats?

Match the mat to your mains: 120 V builds are designed for North American outlets and plug-and-play deployment, while 220–240 V builds are CE-marked for European, UK and Asian circuits wired by an electrician. Both voltages use the same mat geometry and wattage per size.

Do step snow melting mats need a snow sensor?

Not for basic use — you can plug in and switch off manually, or use a WiFi smart plug for app control. For automatic, low-running-cost operation, a snow/ice sensor paired with a controller is recommended, so the mats only activate when precipitation arrives. We can bundle the matched controller with your mat order.

Can the mats be removed in spring and reused next winter?

Yes. The mats are lightweight and designed for seasonal use: lift them after the freeze season, clean them, roll or fold them flat, and store them indoors until the next winter. Embedded installations are the exception — those are permanent under-finish systems.
