What Is a Silicone Heating Cable?

A silicone heating cable (or silicone rubber heating cable) is a resistance wire insulated in silicone rubber instead of PVC. The silicone jacket survives -60 °C to roughly +200 °C, stays flexible at low temperature, and shrugs off moisture, steam and mild chemicals — which is why it is the default choice for high temperature silicone heating wire jobs in tanks, pipes, equipment and defrost applications.

SunAura manufactures this range in our Qingdao factory: a copper-nickel alloy core inside a watertight silicone jacket, immersion-tested to AC 3500 V on every batch. The three models in this category are all constant wattage heating cable constructions (fixed-resistance, ordered to length) — see the selection guide below for when constant-wattage silicone beats self-regulating PTC.

Why Choose Silicone Heat Trace Cable

Wide temperature range. The jacket works from -60 °C cold storage rooms up to +200 °C continuous service, far beyond ordinary PVC heating wire. That makes this silicone insulated heating cable 200°C class suitable for industrial vessels, drums and process piping where gentle heat must hold product viscosity.

Flexible and waterproof. The flexible silicone heater cable bends easily around fittings and under clamps, and the sealed jacket is a waterproof silicone heater cable — wet areas, washdown zones and outdoor drain runs are everyday environments, not edge cases.

Low-voltage friendly. Because voltage is custom-built, the same range ships as 12V 24V silicone heating cable for mobile equipment, solar-powered systems, food-display cabinets and battery-operated appliances, up to 220–240 V for mains trace work.

Applications: Tanks, Pipes, Defrost & Drain Lines

Food and beverage producers use the smooth, easy-to-clean jacket as a food-grade silicone heating wire for heated display and thawing equipment. For pipe freeze protection where runs change length on site, compare our self-regulating heating cable — PTC vs fixed-wattage is covered below.

Silicone vs Self-Regulating: When to Choose Constant Wattage

All three cables in this category are a constant wattage heating cable (fixed-resistance) structure: output per metre is constant along the run, and total length must be specified at order time. This is the right choice when the circuit is uniform, medium-temperature and fully known — tank belts, instrument heating, drain-line defrost and short equipment runs. It is also the most cost-efficient BOM for stable processes.

Switch to self-regulating PTC trace when runs are hard to size on site, may overlap, or traverse mixed-temperature environments. For large underfloor and snow-melting fixed circuits, our double-conductor heating cable remains the workhorse. Where an ultra-thin, surface-mounted flexible solution beats round wire altogether, compare our graphene heating film — far-infrared, flat and IP67.

Factory Price, Wholesale & OEM Service

SunAura has manufactured electric heating elements in Qingdao since 2008. Each silicone rubber heating cable spool passes DC-resistance, water-immersion high-voltage and insulation tests on our production line before packing, and our QC lab issues batch records on request. We sell factory-direct with factory price export rates, low MOQ for trial orders and same-day quotation turnaround.

Our OEM / ODM programme for this range covers custom voltage (12 V through 240 V), custom length, custom wattage, jacket colours, cold-tail specification and private-label packaging. Distributors, appliance makers and industrial contractors can request a free sample length (freight collect) to verify flexibility, surface finish and heat feel before placing a bulk order. EXW and FOB Qingdao terms available.

FAQ

What is the maximum temperature rating of silicone heating cable?

The silicone jacket withstands -60 °C to +200 °C. Continuous maintenance heating is normally held to 150 °C to maximise service life; tell us your target temperature and we will recommend the correct wattage class.

Can I get a 12V or 24V silicone heating cable?

Yes. Voltage is custom-built to your order — 12 V, 24 V, 36 V up to 240 V. This is a common requirement for mobile equipment, solar systems and food-display appliances.

Is silicone heating cable waterproof and safe outdoors?

Yes. The sealed silicone jacket is a waterproof heater cable used on outdoor drain lines, wet areas and washdown zones. Every length is immersion high-voltage tested at the factory.

Can constant wattage cable be cut to length on site?

No — fixed-resistance output depends on total length, so silicone constant-wattage cable must be ordered to the specified length. For cut-to-length flexibility, choose our self-regulating PTC range instead.

Do you supply wholesale samples and OEM branding?

Yes. We offer wholesale factory pricing, flexible MOQ, free sample lengths for trade customers and a full OEM/ODM programme covering custom voltage, length, packaging and your brand label.
