Overview
The Antifreeze Silicone Heating Cable for Drain Lines – 40 W/m is a purpose-built constant wattage trace heating wire for drainage: outdoor downpipes, building drains, gully traps and sump discharge lines that ice up in winter. The 40 W/m output strikes the middle ground — stronger than gentle heat-maintenance wire, kinder to circuit length than the 50 W/m build — and the silicone rubber jacket shrugs off moisture, condensation and the damp environments that shorten the life of ordinary PVC wire.
Rated 220–240 V AC and built to the same parallel node construction as our full silicone range, this drain-line antifreeze cable is ordered to length, tested at 100% on the production line, and backed by factory-direct wholesale and OEM programmes. It is part of our silicone heating cable range.

Key Features
- 40 W/m drain-line output — balanced heat for outdoor drainage: strong enough for exposed runs, efficient enough for 50 m circuits.
- 220–240 V AC — built for standard European and global mains drain-line circuits.
- Moisture-proof silicone jacket — silicone inner insulation and outer jacket survive condensation, washdown and outdoor dampness from −60 °C to +200 °C.
- Alloy resistance core — copper-nickel alloy heating wire with even temperature across the whole element.
- 100% factory testing — every cable passes DC resistance, water-immersion high-voltage and insulation resistance checks.
- Joint-free cold tail — integrated cold-tail section terminates neatly in a dry junction box.

Available Options & Variants
40 W/m is the default drain-line density. Where a run is long and well insulated, the 25 W/m silicone rubber heating cable doubles the per-circuit reach to 65 m; where frost protection must be aggressive on a short exposed segment, the 50 W/m build is the next step up. For potable-water or sewage mains where the run is hard to measure and overlaps cannot be avoided, our self-regulating sewage pipe heating cable is the PTC alternative. Heating length, lead length and output are specified at order.
Applications
- Roof downpipes and gutters — prevents iced-up rainwater pipes that overflow against the building facade.
- Building drainage and gullies — keeps floor drains, inspection chambers and gully traps flowing in cold weather.
- Sump and pump discharge lines — freeze protection on the outlet run of sump pumps.
- Outdoor utility runs — drainage exposed to the elements in yards, loading bays and car parks.
- Holiday and seasonal properties — frost protection on drainage of homes left unattended through winter.
Constant Wattage vs Self-Regulating — Which Do You Need?
This drain-line cable is a fixed-output constant wattage heating cable: 40 W per metre delivered steadily, section by section at the 0.5 m nodes. That makes it economical and predictable — but it must be ordered to length, run under a frost or contact thermostat, and never cut on site. Drain-line jobs that pass through variable environments, or that need on-site trimming, are better served by the overlap-safe self-regulating heating cable range. As a practical split: straight, measurable, insulated drainage runs on a thermostat → this silicone wire; awkward, partially buried or unmeasured runs → PTC.
Installation Guide
- Measure the full drainage run including bends, traps and outlet drops, then order to that exact length.
- Fix the cable to the outside of the drain pipe at the 4 or 8 o’clock position with fixing tape every 30 cm.
- Spiral extra turns around traps, gullies and outlets, which are the first points to freeze.
- Route the integrated cold tail to a weather-protected junction box above ground level.
- Insulate the traced section fully with weatherproof closed-cell insulation.
- Energise through an earth-leakage-protected circuit on a frost or contact thermostat, and verify resistance against the factory test record.
Safety & Certifications
Manufactured under ISO 9001 quality control, CE-marked and RoHS-compliant, with 100% of units passing DC resistance, water-immersion hipot (AC 3500 V) and insulation-resistance tests. As a fixed-wattage element, its heat output is constant — so it must always run through a thermostat sized to the circuit, and the outdoor circuit needs the earth-leakage protection required by local wiring rules. The silicone jacket tolerates continuous moisture exposure, which is the failure point of ordinary PVC drain-line wire.
Factory & Quality Control
SunAura has built heating elements in Qingdao since 2008, exporting to more than 50 countries. The silicone line is operated end-to-end in-house — alloy wire, silicone extrusion, node welding and hipot testing — and batch records are archived for the product’s life. Drain-line contractors come back because replacement coils match the original spec and the engineering team will size the run from a sketch rather than guessing from a catalogue.
Packaging & Shipping
Cables are coiled, sealed and packed in export cartons with the test record and declaration of conformity. Made-to-length builds are produced on confirmation; popular drain-line combinations are held as stock coils. Freight by sea, air or express under EXW/FOB, with thermostats, junction boxes and fixing tape consolidated into one shipment.
OEM/ODM & Private Label
We supply drain-line and gutter-heating programmes to plumbing wholesalers, drainage equipment brands and HVAC contractors: custom lengths and outputs, private-label cartons and manuals, matched frost thermostats, and element-only supply for integration into pre-assembled de-icing kits.
Wholesale Pricing & How to Buy
Factory-direct wholesale pricing with volume tiers for contractors, distributors and OEM customers. MOQ is flexible and sample coils are available for evaluation. Because this is an ordered-to-length constant wattage heating cable, send us the drain run length, voltage, outlet elevation and climate zone, and our engineers will confirm the circuit sizing and return a same-day quote. Request a quote, or browse the full catalogue from the products hub. Bundle a smart thermostat for fully automatic winter switching.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can this drain-line heating cable be cut shorter on site?
No — it is a fixed-wattage element ordered to exact length, and cutting changes the circuit resistance. If you need on-site cut-to-length flexibility, choose our self-regulating heating cable range instead.
Is the silicone jacket safe in wet outdoor drainage environments?
Yes — silicone rubber is moisture-resistant and every unit passes a water-immersion hipot test, and the jacket operates from −60 °C to +200 °C. The cable is fixed to the outside of the pipe under insulation, not immersed inside the drain flow.
How long can one 40 W/m circuit run?
About 50 m per circuit. Longer drainage runs are split into multiple circuits, each on its own thermostat and earth-leakage protection. If you need a single 65 m circuit, use the 25 W/m version.
Do I need a special controller for drain-line antifreeze?
A frost thermostat or contact thermostat set just above freezing is the standard control; WiFi smart models allow app scheduling and remote monitoring. We can bundle the matched controller with the cable.
Can I buy this as a private-label kit?
Yes — OEM/ODM and private-label packaging, manuals and matched accessories are standard. Sample coils are available first. Contact sales for terms.
