Overview
A cold morning barefoot on bathroom tile is the small daily discomfort this mat exists to remove. The Bathroom Floor Heating Mat is a pre-spaced, thin electric heating mat laid beneath tiles, stone or vinyl in wet rooms: the dual-conductor heating cable sits on a mesh backing at a fixed spacing, so every square metre of floor radiates evenly. Rated IPX7 and insulated with FEP to 200 °C, it is purpose-built for the splash, steam and humidity of bathrooms — the wettest room in the house. It belongs to our underfloor heating systems range of electric mats, cables and film.
Because the mat is just a few millimetres thin, it fits tile builds and refurbishment without raising the finished floor level — no screed pour, no bulky radiators, no dry forced-air heat. Pair it with a touch WiFi thermostat and you can warm the floor on a schedule or from your phone before you step out of the shower.

Key Features
- IPX7 waterproof — fully sealed construction built for wet, high-humidity bathroom and shower-zone environments.
- 200 °C FEP insulation — exceeds standard PVC jacket in temperature stability and service life under tile adhesive and screed.
- Low-EMF, dual-conductor build — shielded twin conductor cancels electromagnetic fields for a safe, comfortable living environment.
- Ultra-thin profile — installs in tile adhesive bed with almost no floor-level rise, ideal for bathrooms and refurbishments.
- Pre-spaced red mesh backing — unroll and stick; even cable spacing cuts laying labour and avoids hot spots under tile.
- Fast warm-up — radiant heat reaches comfort temperature within 30–60 minutes, not overnight.
- Silent and draft-free — no fan, no ducts, no circulating dust, which matters in steamy, enclosed bathrooms.

Coverage should leave around 10 cm free around the bath, shower tray and fixed fittings, and never run under cabinetry or WC pedestals. Custom lengths and 200 W/m² wet-room outputs are made to order — send us your floor plan and we will size the exact mat count and circuit.
Application Scenarios
- Family bathrooms — warm tile and stone floors underfoot; the anti-slip comfort of a dry, warm floor after the bath.
- Wet rooms & shower zones — IPX7 sealed construction safely handles splash and steam where ordinary mats cannot.
- Hotels, spas & guesthouses — the small luxury guests notice; pair with our hotel floor heating mat programme for multi-room hospitality fit-outs.
- Refurbished period bathrooms — the ultra-thin profile installs in adhesive without rebuilding the floor.
- Accessible & elder-care bathrooms — a warm, dry floor reduces the chill-and-shock moment that contributes to slips.
How It Works
The mat is a factory-fabricated mesh strip with a shielded dual-conductor resistance cable bonded to it at a fixed spacing — typically 75–100 mm. When current flows, the cable radiates upward through the tile adhesive and finish. A floor temperature sensor laid beside the mat feeds a thermostat, which cycles the power so the tile surface holds a safe, comfortable band (about 26–32 °C). Because the system only heats the floor rather than the whole air volume, running cost is low — and because it is radiant, the heat you feel stays at foot level instead of rising to the ceiling.
Installation Guide
1. Prepare a flat, clean, damp-proofed subfloor and lay the insulation board if specified. 2. Unroll the mat mesh-side down onto fresh flexible tile adhesive, pressing it in — never cut the heating cable itself, only the mesh. 3. Keep 10 cm clear of baths, trays and furniture; route the cold tail and 3 m floor sensor into the thermostat back box. 4. Lay and tile over the mat as normal. 5. Test resistance and insulation before tiling and again after. The final wiring to mains and earth-leakage protection must be finished by a qualified electrician. For wooden or floating finishes rather than tile, see our aluminium film heating mat alternative.
Safety & Certifications
Bathrooms demand the highest waterproof grade: this mat is sealed to IPX7, uses 200 °C-rated FEP insulation, and its fully shielded twin conductor keeps EMF low. Every mat passes hi-pot and resistance testing before dispatch, and production runs carry CE and RoHS certification under ISO 9001 quality management. Good practice keeps it safe: the circuit must be RCD/RCBO protected, the floor sensor must be fitted (the thermostat limits floor temperature to a safe ceiling), and the mat must never be laid under fixed furniture where heat cannot dissipate.
Factory & Quality
SunAura Thermal is a Qingdao-based electric heating manufacturer in business since 2008, supplying underfloor mats, heating cables, graphene film and thermostats to contractors, distributors and brands in more than 50 countries. This bathroom mat shares its production line with our electric heating mats family, using the same cable-winding, FEP extrusion and 100 % hi-pot test benches. As the factory, not a trader, we supply traceable test records, certification documents and direct engineering support for every bathroom project. The full range is on the products hub.
Packaging & Shipping
Mats are rolled into labelled cartons with the cold tail protected, floor sensor included, and an installation leaflet in English. Cartons are pallet-optimised for sea freight, with express courier available for urgent refurbishment orders. CE, RoHS and test certificates travel with the shipment, and invoices are prepared for the destination voltage (220–240 V or 110–120 V). Bathroom renovation programmes are best ordered alongside the tiling schedule so the mat and thermostat arrive together.
OEM / ODM & Private Label
As the element manufacturer we customise in-house: mat width and length, 160 or 200 W/m² output, 110–120 V or 220–240 V builds, cold-tail length, and private-label packaging for bathroom-heating brands and installers. ODM projects — IPX7 wet-room builds, hotel bathroom kits with matched thermostats and branded instructions in one box — are a regular export format for European and North American trade partners. Samples are available for on-site evaluation before a bulk order.
Wholesale Pricing & How to Buy
Pricing is factory-direct and scales with quantity, voltage and whether the order is standard length or custom. Contractors, bathroom fit-out companies and distributors receive volume tiers; sample mats are offered for on-site testing. Send us your bathroom floor plan, tile type and chosen voltage, and our engineers will size the mat layout, circuit and thermostat, then return a same-day quotation. To start, contact our sales team for factory price, wholesale terms and free-sample arrangements.
FAQ
Is a bathroom floor heating mat safe in wet rooms and shower zones?
Yes. The mat is sealed to IPX7 and insulated with FEP rated to 200 °C, which is the construction grade for splash zones and wet rooms. It must be wired onto an RCD/RCBO-protected circuit by a qualified electrician, and always used with the included floor sensor so the thermostat limits floor temperature.
How much wattage do I need per square metre for a tiled bathroom?
160 W/m² is standard under tile or stone for comfort heating in a well-insulated bathroom; choose 200 W/m² for very small, poorly insulated rooms, spa-style wet rooms, or floors you want to reach comfort in under 30 minutes. Coverage should not extend under the bath, shower tray or fixed furniture.
Can I lay this under existing tiles during a refurbishment?
It is designed for embedding in a new tile-adhesive bed during re-tiling. The roughly 3 mm thin profile means almost no floor-level rise, so door clearances are usually unaffected. We do not recommend laying loose mats on top of an existing finished floor without an approved surface finish.
Does the mat need a thermostat — can I just switch it on and off?
A thermostat is required for safety and economy. It cycles the mat against the floor sensor and prevents overheating; a programmable or WiFi model also lets you schedule warmth for morning routines. We supply matched room thermostats and can bundle them with the mat order.
How long does a bathroom underfloor heating mat last?
The heating element is a sealed, shielded twin-conductor cable with no joints in the field — the failure-prone splices are eliminated at the factory. Properly installed under tile with correct circuit protection, such mats carry long-service-life designs and multi-year warranties; we offer 2-year standard cover with extended options for project contracts.
